Made me Smile

Sometimes an image just totally sums up how you feel! I was recently asked to undertake a commission of a family portrait. The work involved capturing 5 individual people from separate sittings and photographs and arrange into one attractive artwork. I was nervous about the job as the person commissioning the work had very fixed views about how the faces should be arranged etc and didn't want to consider a more contemporary relaxed setting. After developing a realistic and reasonable quote, inclusive of the frame style that had been specified, I was a little surprised to be asked if I would do the work for 50% less than the price. After a little negotiation I then withdrew and felt thankful as somewhere inside I knew that this was going to be incredibly time-consuming, artistically limiting and ultimately, unprofitable.
